About Me

Home / About Me

My ethos/the way I work

Ultimately it’s an honour and a privilege to work alongside people and hear stories maybe never been told before and work together with someone to understand and support them through their most vulnerable time.

I work very flexibly and appreciate that people will come to me with varying degrees and circumstances of the help and support they want.  Whilst I am happy and see value in offering a consistent, safe , reliable place for people to talk through and understand their issues, I equally work to support people to get to a point where they feel they can understand and manage the difficulties by themselves- ‘self-therapise’.

Over my many years of practice, I have learnt that whilst I bring my depth of experience, training and knowledge of human behaviour and people, you know your life story better than anyone and together we can work to understand how things have led to this point, why you’re feeling the way your feeling and use this to inform next steps and ways to change things or view things differently.

Experience

I have 15 years’ experience working within the mental health field, across both NHS and private contexts
Most recently I work part time as a Senior Clinical Psychologist within the NHS working with adults presenting with severe and chronic mental health conditions

I have a depth of experience working with and supporting people with a wide range of problems/difficulties including, depression, anxiety disorders, health anxiety, panic attacks, emotional dysregulation, anger-management, poor confidence and low self-esteem, PTSD,  grief, adjustment to loss of job/role – (retirement) of a loved one – (bereavement) , relationship difficulties, divorce/separation (navigating the transition).

This list is not exhaustive and most of the people I work with are not entirely sure which area their difficulties sit within and they can present with issues across a few of the categories mentioned.

I have worked within corporations and businesses to support workplace wellbeing through 1-1 confidential employee support, training events around team resilience and stress management and group reflective sessions.
